Lessons with Landon

The past few days have just flown by and we're constantly learning something new about Landon.  The pediatrician visit on Wednesday went very well. He was almost back to his birth weight then so hopefully at next week's appt he'll have exceeded it. While we were there he also showed off his mighty stream for the first time...quite distance! :)

He has been eating really well so far and has seemingly grown in strength every day - he can lift his head really well on his own and can hit your arm away very effectively too.  (All this has also worked in my advantage, as I have already lost 19 lbs since having him and today I fit into one of my lower-waisted pairs of pre-pregnancy jeans -- woohoo!)

We learned the past 2 days that he gets cranky for a nap around 3pm, but other than that, he's a really good, easy-going baby so far. We just hope that continues!  We've also discovered how fast time flies when all you are doing is watching him sleep or look around...he is just precious to stare at....what a blessing he is.

Today we went for his 2nd photo shoot of his life (his first was in the hospital but the pics were way too expensive, so we went today to get some professional photos done). I'll post some of our faves from that soon. For now, here are some from the past few days.

He's all boy...

Updates from Home

We made it home yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon and we are all happy to be here. Lucy loves Landon, and has taken her role as surrogate mother, just as expected.  Landon seems to like her too and she did a great job of keeping him awake yesterday afternoon for an hour or so by sticking her nose on his feet, hands, ears, etc. Both our precious puppies have a very annoying habit that we thought might be an issue with Landon...every day (usually late afternoon), they suddenly sprint out the back door barking their loudest barks at every passing car. We thought that he'd be startled every time they do it. But he obviously got used to it in the womb, because he hasn't flinched even once!  And this is even more of a surprise because he flinches at other sudden noises, like a fork hitting a glass plate, a loud cough or sneeze, etc.

Judy and Wes have taken such great care of all of us. Judy made a beautiful sign (pics below) to welcome us home, and we've had a warm welcome from neighbors as well.  Landon seems very relaxed at home and followed a pretty good pattern of eating, sleeping, and chilling yesterday. He seems to sleep best between 3 and 8, and then again for a couple of hours at a time through the morning, if the last 2 nights mean anything. So if we can shift that a little earlier, we'd be even happier!

We go to our first pediatrician visit today so hopefully that goes well.  Will post more later!

Welcome to the world, Baby Landon!

Our precious little man arrived this morning, April 25th, at 11:11am. Same birthtime as his mom and same date as his dad, cousin Jordyn, and of course, Jesus! We finally named him after he was born and it was a name we hadn't even thought of until we saw him...Landon Michael Perry.

A funny story...two different friends at church last night told us that their wives went into labor after watching a movie. So I went home and watched a movie, and voila, contractions started around 11:45 and my water broke at 12:30. About 11 1/2 hours after it started, he was here. And he's been a great baby so far!

Quick facts:
7lbs 15oz
20 3/4" long
big feet and hands like his dad
blond eyelashes and eyebrows
the loudest voice in the nursery when he's cold or otherwise unhappy
he has the cutest dimple in his chin
already sucks on his hands and thumb...hopefully he'll be a good self-soother!

Here are some of Landon's first moments in photos...

38 weeks...almost there!

We are about ready for this baby boy to make his appearance!  We went flying today and he moved the whole time - we assume it was the loud noise of the engine in a small plane. It's probably the loudest noise he's heard so far, but hopefully he liked it!  Here is an updated photo of me in front of our veggie garden on this beautiful spring day.

And as an added bonus, the azaleas are in full bloom around here lately, and we saw this gigantic azalea bush in a nearby neighborhood...you can see, it blocks the house!

So it's any day now...I'm scheduled for an induction on April 27th if he doesn't arrive by then. But hopefully he will decide he's ready a little sooner than that so he can arrive on his own.  We'll post something here when we have more news!
